Franz Schiep
Franz Schiep
CEO of Marketing & Sales

Franz Schiep has been active in a leading role in Marketing & Sales at NextSense since December 2008. He was appointed CEO on October 15, 2010. Franz Schiep brings along more than 30 years of experience in the sales of measurement devices. As a trained radio and television technician, he took on his initial marketing position at Hirschmann Österreich in 1980. Franz Schiep held the position of regional manager for various regions for the German manufacturer of measurement engineering, Wandel & Goltermann, and their successor companies from 1984 on. He was named to the position of CEO at Acterna Austria GmbH and the later JDSU Austria GmbH in 2001.
Clemes Gasser
Clemens Gasser
Chief Executive Officer/CEO and founder

Clemens Gasser is a founder member of the NextSense GmbH and has been CEO since March 2007. Before this, he was project manager and research associate at the Institute of Digital Image Processing of the Forschungsgesellschaft Joanneum Research (Center for applied research and development). During this time, he gathered management experience regarding international industrial projects in the field of optoelectronic, laser-based measuring. From 2003 to 2005, he was also member of the supervisory board of the SensorDynamics AG. Clemens Gasser graduated as a Diplomingenieur for Telematik from the Technical University of Graz.

Albert Niel

Head of R&D/Senior Scientist and founder

Albert Niel is a founder member of NextSense GmbH and has been head of R&D since March 2007. Albert Niel can look back on over 25 years of experience in R&D management, starting as an assistant at the Technical University of Graz and the Montanuniversität Leoben and then being head of the Institute of Digital Image Processing of the Forschungsgesellschaft Joanneum Research (Center for applied research and development). Albert Niel is specialist for laser section technology and has made significant contributions to the patent for the measuring system Calipri. He participates in various scientific committees and is author of over fifty publications. Albert Niel graduated as a Diplomingenieur for Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Graz and as Dr. Mont. from Montanuniversität Leoben.
Peter Kaufmann
Friedrich Peter Kaufmann
Hardware development and founder

Peter Kaufmann is a founder member of the NextSense GmbH and has been CTO since March 2007. For almost twenty years, he was mainly responsible for the technical planning and design of industrial projects at the Institute of Digital Image Processing of the Forschungsgesellschaft Joanneum Research (Center for applied research and development). For the last 5 years, Peter Kaufmann was head of the Department for Mechatronics. Peter Kaufmann graduated as a Diplomingenieur for Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Graz.
Edwin Deutschl

Software development and founder

Edwin Deutschl is a founder member of NextSense GmbH and has been head of IT since March 2007. For over twelve years he gathered, as project manager and research associate, experience in the implementation of national and international industrial projects at the Institute of Digital Image Processing of the Forschungsgesellschaft Joanneum Research (Center for applied research and development). He mainly concentrated on software design and software implementation with modern development tools. In the past few years, Edwin Deutschl was project manager for major projects in the field of surface inspection and profile measuring. Edwin Deutschl graduated as a Diplomingenieur for Technical Mathematics from the Technical University of Graz.
