Top exporters made In Graz

Two companies from Graz, NEXTSENSE GmbH and Inandout - Distribution GmbH, were honored at the Export Awards 2014. Every year, Austrian Minister of Economy Mitterlehner and WKÖ President Leitl award companies whose commitment to export is exceptional. NEXTSENSE and Inandout consistently focus on an international outlook and have been able to steadily increase their turnover and number of employees over the last few years.

Graz is an especially fruitful location for innovative export companies. The presentation of awards to the two companies NEXTSENSE GmbH and Inandout - Distribution GmbH at the 2014 Export Awards in the MuseumsQuartier Wien in Vienna is proof of this. The Austrian Federal Minister for Science, Research and Economy, Reinhold Mitterlehner, and the President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), Christoph Leitl, handed out the awards in six categories. NEXTSENSE was able to win over the high-caliber jury of experts in the Crafts and Trades category with its internationally successful measurement and inspection systems. The online retailer Inandout secured one of the sought-after awards in the Trade and Commerce category.

Top export – technology
Germany, the USA, China, South Africa and France are only the top five among NEXTSENSE's export markets. With its one of a kind profile and surface measuring systems, the high-tech company from Graz has rapidly become the leading provider of non-contact measurement technology. The two product lines CALIPRI and SURFILES are especially successful in international industry, which has allowed NEXTSENSE to raise its export quota to 93%. The company's customers include big names like Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, ArcelorMittal, Daimler and Miele. And NEXTSENSE continues with its export strategy: "In the last year, export to overseas regions and Asian markets has increased significantly. For example, in April we were able to land a contract worth millions with the largest steel producer in Western China," explains Marketing Manager Christoph Böhm.

From a small record store to global online retail
The online retailer Inandout was no less successful. The two owners of a small second-hand record store in the Graz city center recognized the potential of the Internet early on and started selling their records online back in 1998. Since then, Inandout's product range has expanded to include books, toys, sports equipment, outdoor products and small electronic devices, and the number of employees has increased to 45. They are especially successful in Germany, the UK and the USA, but have now also started delivery to Russia, Ukraine and Japan. "Export is an integral part of our company, so we are constantly trying to access new target markets. At the moment, we are working on a roll-out to China and India", says one of the two managing directors, Tino Kopanakis, with regards to Inandout's promising plans.

The achievements and commitment to export of these two model companies were honored with the prizes at the Export Awards 2014. WKÖ President Christoph Leitl emphasizes the importance of the event: "The awards honor those exporters who guarantee Austria's economic upswing through their passion and dedication." The success of NEXTSENSE and Inandout shows that Graz has become an important center of industry and commerce with top internationally-focused companies.
